The University of Gloucester is offering a new path to ophthalmic imaging
A new degree apprenticeship is addressing industry calls for more qualified, technically skilled ophthalmic imaging practitioners.
The University of Gloucester’s BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science Practitioner Apprenticeship (Ophthalmic Imaging) program has been developed to provide ophthalmic technicians with “an opportunity to gain a recognized qualification in their chosen career pathway for the first time.”
Delivered by the University’s School of Health and Social Care, the first-of-its-kind program aims to develop “a sustainable ophthalmic imaging workforce to help tackle the mounting industry pressures and meet increasing patient demand.”
The degree apprenticeship offers an innovative, “distanced-blended” learning program for both apprentices and full-time students, who will study a variety of healthcare science topics, while gaining practical experience.
