It’s Day 2 of the UK’s largest optical event – and, after a fantastic start, I’m looking forward to more of the same today.
Don’t miss The New Optometrist presenting this year’s Collaborative Eye Care Award to the winner, PocketEye, today. PocketEye is a cloud-based web app that connects optometrists with ophthalmologists for instant access to clinical advice, guidance, diagnostic support and OCT, eyelid lesion and fundus image reports, and more. Today’s Program Highlights: 100% Optical
A new approach to myopia management (10:15 –11:15) – Monica Jong, Global Director of Professional Education, Myopia, Johnson & Johnson Vision, explores the science behind all the myopia management options available today, including a new innovation which utilizes novel technology.
Are we doing everything we can for every glaucoma patient? (13:00 –14:00) – Three glaucoma experts hope to help practitioners identify risk factors and recognise opportunities to gain additional qualifications to support collaborative care of glaucoma patients.
Bringing clarity to complexity: the art of optical practices (13:30 - 14:30) – explores the critical components involved in running a successful optical practice. The panelists, including James Loughman of Ocumetra and ASDA’s Head of Optical, Sarah Joyce, bring their unique insights into best practices and collaborative approaches.
Review of common macular diseases (17:00 - 18:00) – Round off your day with a review of the most common macular diseases encountered in everyday clinical practice.
Today’s Program Highlights: 100% Ophthalmology
Guilty till proven otherwise! (10:15-11:15) – Join Rachna Murthy, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Face Restoration, and Jonathan Roos, Consultant Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeon, for a picture quiz on eyelid tumors.
EDI (equity, inclusion and diversity) presentation (14:00 – 15:00) – Evelyn Mensah, Consultant Ophthalmologist at NHS Trust, discusses the current state of diversity in ophthalmology.
Research is everyone’s business (16:15 – 17:00) – Roxanne Crosby-Nwaobi, NIHR Clinical Lecturer and Associate Professor at Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, looks at how staff can incorporate research into their practice to make it business as usual.
Time Out
If you find the time, drop into the Museum of London’s Docklands, which tells the story of the city from its first settlers to modern times. From Roman settlement to the development of Canary Wharf, the long history of the capital as a port is revealed through stories of trade, migration, and commerce in this free-to-visit experience.
